STAGES OF SERVICES AUTOMATION IN THE CONTEXT OF INDUSTRIAL AND POST-INDUSTRIAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The article is devoted to the evolution of services automation. The primary automa-
tion of services is based on the use of industrial automation technology and is aimed at 
providing mass standardised services. The task of secondary automation of services is 
to individualise the characteristics of the consumed service based on the use of digital 
technologies. The result of the secondary automation of services is consumers’ involve-
ment in the process of rendering the service simultaneously with the displacement of 
service personnel by digital intermediaries. Particular attention is paid to the results of 
automation in transport, fi nancial, health, environmental protection, tourism, as well as 
in public administration. It is shown that the primary automation of services corresponds 
to the logic of the industrial development of the economy, and the secondary automation 
correlates with the postindustrial development logic.
