The symphony “The ode to the red banner” is a classic of the famous
Chinese composer Lu Qiming. It is a well-known symphony. “The ode
to the red banner” for two pianos, based on Lu Qiming’s symphony of
the same name, was adapted by composers Zeng Zhen and Zhang Hui-
qin in 2003. This big piece is a hymn, giving praise to the Motherland,
the Communist Party and the red banner.
This article takes the symphonic piece “The ode to the red banner”
as an entry point, and puts it together with the composition for two
pianos adapted by Zeng Zhen and Zhang Huiqin. The music melody of
the theme is analyzed in terms of its creative background and melodic
development.
