The paper is devoted to the problem of the infl uence of foreign music trends on the artistic thinking of Chinese composers. The main attention is paid to the piano art of Wang Jianzhong, who made an outstanding contribution to the Chinese musical culture of the XX — early XXI centuries. Wang Jianzhong found the ways of combining traditional Chinese and Western music, contributing to the enrichment of the composer’s
thesaurus. The author considers ways of integrating the pentatonic mode and dodecaphony as one of the prerequisites for the composer’s bright style, high artistic value and professionalism of his music. The paper describes a great infl uence of the author’s music, composed with innovative technologies, on the piano art in China.
