The article examines the development of the category of subject in European philosophy
from the classical understanding to its “death”, and the methodological correlation of
modern interpretations of such concepts as an actor, agent, subject. Subject is understood in modern social philosophy only as a social one, at the same time having such a classic attribute as the need for reflection. This is in conflict with the main categories of the modern social theory. The task of the article is to show how such an interpretation of subject changes the understanding of the social relationship and what are the prospects for building a new model of social reality on this basis.
