The article reviews the image of women refl ected in the Chinese phraseological units. The author makes an attempt to assemble the features and qualities of woman in the Chinese phraseology into a complete gestalt. The author also demonstrates that
the Chinese phraseological units describing women refl ect the national character and are essentially androcentric.
