The article analyses some reading strategies in respect to the increase of the reader’s role, which were offered in the 20th century by structuralism, semiotics and deconstruction. The author observes the possibilities, approaches and tools obtained by the reader. At the same time, the theories under consideration reveal the overcoming of the integrity of a literary work and turn to multiplicity of text and writing. The outcome is liberation of reading from the necessity to coincide with meaning, search for the signified or from interpretation choice. Paradoxically this liberation results in the impossibility of reading as such.
