CREATIVITY AND SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL ADAPTATION AT PRIMARY SCHOOL AGE

 The article presents a study of social and psychological adaptation of primary
schoolchildren with different creativity development levels, based on fundamental works
on social and psychological adaptation and creativity. The problem was studied at the
empirical level with the help of various diagnostic techniques and comparative analysis.
It was revealed as a result that non-linearity, ambiguousness of creativity development
processes in groups of primary schoolchildren affect the adaptation opportunities at this
age directly. The risk group includes very highly-creative children due to their low selfesteem and high degree of overall anxiety at school, as well as very low-creative children having difficulties in interpersonal relations. The analysis of the obtained interrelations showed that at primary school age manifestations of creativity can both contribute to the development of adaptation opportunities, and hinder social and psychological adaptation.
