The author analyzes the art of thanka in the refl ection of Buddhism, its philosophical concepts and religious beliefs. The role of the symbol in the picture as the way of passing a hidden meaning that the artist has embedded into his work is explored. Truth and feelings are examined as one of the main concepts in Chinese Buddhist art.
