The article discusses the modern state of children’s theatre festivals. It focuses on
the role of festivals in theatre life of St. Petersburg and the prospects of forms and
methods development. The paper analyses the challenges that festival organisers
are faced with and the goals and objectives of children’s theatre festivals in modern
life. It also touches upon ways of enhancing spectators’ activity and rapprochement
between stage and audience. The research is based on interviews with a number of
theatre figures.
