The work is devoted to finding ways of development of human living space within a
small town. It is shown that the imperfection of living space is one of the factors of the
crisis state of small towns. The author proposes reorganisation of living space at the
level of physicality (improving the comfort of man’s biological existence in a small
city: expansion of consumption possibilities, development of social infrastructure, reorganisation of public spaces, etc.) and the level of everyday life (enabling of social
self-realisation of a person through the formation of the economic and political climate
favourable to the development of business initiatives and startups).
