The article is dedicated to the key concepts of the philosophy of personality (“lichnost’”)
of Semen Frank in the 1920–1930s. The mentioned topic was explored by Frank from the main standpoints of the humanities: ontology and gnoseology, experimental psychology, characterology, phenomenology, social philosophy, acmeology. The study of numerous sources and the application of the hermeneutical research technique, as well as historical, analytical, synchronic, diachronic, ideographical and nomothetical methods, make it possible to qualify Frank’s philosophy as deeply centered on the substantial whole – personality as a basis for the vital concrete being.
