The article discusses the efficiency of professional activity of employees of the patrol
service of police. The implementation of the public order and security at public events
is one of the main functions of combatant units of the patrol service of police. In order
to improve the effectiveness of police in protecting public order during mass events, the
author proposes partial decentralisation of the components of professional activity of the patrol service.
