 The paper contains a historical survey of applying the relevance conception in various branches of science, proving the possibility to use this conception as a basis for a
relevant approach to professional improvement of doctors – teachers at clinical departments of medical higher educational institutions. The authors consider relevance as a category actualising the argumentative, interpersonal and discursive success of interpersonal communication, in particular in professional improvement of these specialists.
