The article discusses various approaches to the concept of “ideology” from classic to
modern ones. The authors prefer the approach developed in the framework of the methodology of synergetic philosophy of history. Ideology is opposed to utopia, while neither ideology nor utopia is considered just in the negative aspect. It is proposed to return to the understanding of ideology as a doctrine of universally valid ideal. The authors criticise the ideology devoid of common sense and show the difference between truth and ideal and the possibility of their synthesis through the “optimal sacrifie”.
