 The article examines specifi cs of speech organization of a public lecture in TV format. The need for research in the area of the public media lecture genre is determined by both its popularity in modern scientifi c discourse and the lack of defi nition of its typical speech characteristics as the material for further training in text communication.
Public TV lecture genre is developing in a specifi c communicative environment impacting its speech format (double addressee, direct and indirect form of communication, verbal form of information transfer, etc.). At the heart of the genre is the intent to explain, which at the text level is examined in the article as typology of explanatory texts and in communicative and pragmatic aspect as the strategy of
realization of explanatory way of presentation.
