Speci fi cs of the Manifestations of Modality in Russian Spoken Dialogue (On the Material of the Motion Pictures “Peter FM” and “Christmas Trees”)

 The article describes the modality as one of the communicative categories based on linguistic approaches. The authors deal with the controversial issue of the modality of spoken dialogue. The issue of the relationship between modality, emotion and expressivity is explored. To identify speci fi cs of the manifestation of subjective modality the authors analyze the contexts of spoken dialogue speech as presented in the
modern Russian motion pictures. The analysis of fi ve characteristics of
dialogue: apperception moment in perception of the speech of interlocutor, sustainable structures, replica-repeat, automatism of speech, indirect statements are also reviewed. Research material demonstrates the variety of ways of expressing subjective modality in the Russian language.
