 The paper covers the methodical principles of organisation of ensemble music-making in
modern general education of China. Ensemble music-making at comprehensive school is
largely related to the widespread introduction of the Orff method to the training process as a principle of integration into the world music culture. The introduction of this discipline
to lower grades of comprehensive school considerably improves artistic formation and
develops creative abilities of children. It is aimed at unlocking the potential of musical
abilities of every pupil, stimulates his/her self-identity and belonging to the national
cultural heritage. Using ensemble music-making promotes the principle of cooperative
learning.
