The paper is devoted to the social transformation of mythological concepts of traditional
Indian medicine — Ayurveda — in modern conditions. The author discusses the
narratives of ancient Indian cosmogonic ideas, and touches upon the problem of modern
myth-making with attempts to infl uence the shaping of public opinion and social norms
that are affected by the commercial component.
