The author considers the hazing (angry banter) problem in North American student fraternities, most of which are elitist closed societies. The cause of hazing occurrence, its
values for newcomers, reasons for hazing nonrejection are described. The author concludes that through passing the tests newcomers are getting acquainted with behaviour rules and brotherhood corporate structure, getting used to the hierarchy whereupon they have a sense of cohesion and belonging to the team. The author also shows hazing examples and practices to combat with it.
