 The paper covers one of the ways of creative thinking development in learning
mathematics — the replacement of the task of creative thinking development with the task
of development of its simplified model — divergent thinking, which increases the degree of
controllability of this process. The author reveals two directions of the divergent thinking
development — by means of tasks of the divergent and convergent types. The author also
describes the recentering mechanism used for the development of divergent thinking.
