The article is dedicated to the analysis and interpretation of the “world” concept in
the understanding of Augustine of Hippo, an outstanding thinker and philosopher.
The article’s central idea is the opposition of Christ’s peace (pax) and mundane world
(mundus), and also features of these concepts. The methodology is based on the research of Augustine’s Tractates on the 17th chapter of the Gospel of John that are not translated from Latin into Russian.
