Abstract. The article presents an analysis of volitional regulation and self-regulation as one
of the key factors in shaping the readiness of future officers to act in conditions of uncertainty and risk. The relevance and practical significance of a targeted study of the locus of personality control of military personnel in the context of the further development of the Russian National Guard troops is reflected. The results of an empirical study of the relationship between volitional self-regulation and risk readiness of cadets during their studies at a higher military educational institution are summarised. Practical recommendations on the development of the motivational and volitional sphere of military personnel are formulated.
