The paper is devoted to the realisation of possessive relations between a person, his/
her friends and relatives and features of using possessive constructions with organs and body parts in colloquial German. The research showed that possessive relations can be expressed both by a possessive pronoun and the defnite article in a possessive function. The author studies the frequency of using possessive pronouns and the defnite article in a possessive function, as well as prototypical means of expressing possessiveness in constructions with organs and body parts and in constructions with a person’s friends and relatives.
